CUBA CAR RENTAL: OUR CARS

All the cars of Cuba car rental are modern and maximum 2 years old, made in Europe, Japan, China or South-Korea, all with air conditioning. Our offer of cars is divided into 4 categories according to size, price and use. Check out the properties of each category and find the car you need. All cars drive on normal unleaded gasoline which costs around 1,1 euro per liter in Cuba. Most cars are mechanical but on request we can provide a car with automatic gear (with a local suplement of 5 cuc per day).

CUBA CAR RENTAL: ECONOMIC:

Here you find small cars with a 1.0 liter engine, ideal for 2 people travelling through Cuba on a budget. The cars are very economic in their gasoline consumption. Here you find cars like Hyundai Atos and Peugeot 206.

 

 

 

CUBA CAR RENTAL: COMFORT

For couples wanting to travel in a more comfortable way or with a lot of luggage, or with kids we can recommend the category COMFORT. Here the cars have a more powerful engine of 1.3 liter. There is more space on the rear bench and the luggage compartment allows more capacity. On the road you drive more easily with cars like Geely CK, Skoda Fabia, Hyundai Accent, Seat Cordoba or Kia Rio.

 

 

CUBA CAR RENTAL: STYLE

For people travelling by four or just wanting to have a really comfortable and spacious car like you are used to at home we recommend the STYLE category. Here you find a really powerful engine with all modern top car commodities, lots of space and comfortable seating to take you all the way through Cuba. We can deliver cars like Hyundai Sonata, Geely FC, VW Passat, Seat Altea or Toyota Corrolla according to availability.

 

 

CUBA CAR RENTAL: MINI-VAN

For people travelling in family or small group we have a limited offer of mini-vans. Due to space limitations we recommend this car for up to 5 adults. The car can take 7 people but the luggage of maximum 5 people will fit. The engine is of course very powerful and the riding is smooth even over the bumpy Cuban roads. The models are Hyundai TQ or H1 or Seat Alambra.

 

CUBA CAR RENTAL CONDITIONS

- Every holder of a passport above 21 years old and of a driving licence for more then 2 years can rent a car in Cuba.

- We confirm only rentals 10 days or more before the beginning of the rental. We confirm within 72 hours with an invoice. We send an email comunication through a third party system a request of payment by credit card (visa or mastercard) which is valid for 3 days. On being confirmed of the transaction we send you the voucher by email.
If you cancel we charge 1 day of rental and the costs for sending you back the money are on you.

- Our rentals have a minimum of 3 days. Every day is counted as 24 hours so you pick up and drop off the car on the same hour. All rentals are with unlimited mileage. We rent the cars with several local renting companies. Cubafortravel takes responsibility for the reservation, but not for the local contract and payments.

- Locally there is an obligatory insurance cost. Below you find the approximate rates. There is an own risk for damages to the tires or the music installation in the car. In case of accident, theft or damage you always need to go to the police in order to be eligible for the insurance. To cover part of the waiver a deposit is demanded. This can be paid by cash or by a credit card authorization. If the car is returned unharmed the money is returned or the credit card voucher is annuled.
The insurance is not in force when the driver is driving under influence. The insurance doesn't cover theft of tires. We recommend to always park the car under surveillance.

- In case a second person wants to drive the car a small fee of 3 cuc per day is charged locally. Persons not mentioned on the contract are not allowed to drive the car.

- Cars can be picked up and dropped off all over the island but a fee will be charged depending on the distance between the two points (between 0 and 120 cuc). This is charged at the end of the rental locally and in Cuban Peso or by credit card. Note that there is a charge of 20 Cuban Peso for picking up a car at an airport location, and 10 cuc for dropping it off at an airport. This is charged locally.

- Repairs and towing are without costs. On the contract is stated when the car needs servicing. If during the rental you reach this limit you have to bring the car to a rental point. Oil will be changed and other checks will be done free of charge. Not complying with this rule will be penalized with a 100 cuc fine. Likewise there is a fine for loosing the contract.

CUBA CAR RENTAL PRICES

The first day of the rental period decides the season. So if the first day of the rental period falls in low season, all days are counted as low even if all the others fall in high.

All local charges are in Cuban Convertible Peso and can be subject to changes. It can be paid in cash peso or credit card. 1 CUC or Peso equals 1 USD in value.
